Born in Missouri and raised in Oklahoma, I graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a Political Science degree in 2008. While attending Georgetown University through The Fund for American Studies, I began my career in politics by interning for then-Senator Barack Obama. From there, I spent the next seven years working on political campaigns and in the United States Senate.
I got involved in politics because I wanted to make a positive impact in my community and the world around me. And it’s for the same reasons that I became a teacher. While it may take a different form and shape, teaching creates countless opportunities to be a positive influence in the lives of my students. I believe with all of my heart that given the opportunity, every student can excel and achieve in ways they did not even believe were possible.
Since I’ve been at MLCPA, I have fallen in love with teaching more than I could’ve ever imagined. Not only have I had the opportunity to meet and teach some incredible students, along the way, I’ve been selected as Teacher of the Year, Beginning Teacher of the Year (becoming the first teacher to ever be selected for this honor at MLCPA), Teacher of the Month by the students, was chosen to serve as the 7th Grade PLC Team Lead and received a Gold Standard Teaching Award from MLCPA's administrative team.
